What services do we provide?

We provide a day care service for adults with physical or sensory difficulties and learning needs. Our aim is to provide our service users with a stimulating environment to achieve the independent living and life skills they require to reach their fullest potential. We also provide overnight weekend respite care for service users who do not require any personal care.

We will do everything possible to respect the rights of our service users, particularly by observing the values of privacy, dignity, independence, choice and achievement, whilst ensuring that the freedom of rights is limited only by the rights of others.

Our Centre

Our centre is situated on a quiet road within a small community. The building is a bungalow, meaning everything is on one level, making it easily accessible for all our service users. We have a large purpose-built ramp to access the property. We have a large driveway that can accommodate up to 4 parked vehicles. Our centre can accommodate up to ten service users per day and three per night for respite. We have a large lounge and dining area, a large kitchen, a large wet room and a disabled toilet, two large double bedrooms and one single bedroom, which can all be personalised to suit our service users needs. We have a large landscaped rear garden with a purpose-built facility, where we run our work-shops. The garden also has fruit and vegetable patches, a greenhouse, a rabbit and guinea pig run and a large seated area with shade. We also have a detached office towards the rear of the property. The centre is equipped with a fire alarm system, including fire door, latches and handles.

Enterprise

We provide a number of enterprise related workshops and whatever our services users have created, baked or grown, will then have the opportunity to sell the goods to different customers, whether that’s passers-by or through our Facebook selling page. We feel this enables our service users to gain a better understanding of a working environment, the value of money, interactions and transactions and the fulfilment of reaching a goal.

Gardening and produce

Growing plants including fruit and veg. Making hanging baskets and containers, seedling trays and much more.

Arts and crafts

We have an outside professional that attends the centre to help create all things arts and crafts. This could include necklaces, bracelets, key rings, coasters and home decorations using a variety of products including resin.

Baking

Cooking and baking different foods and cakes and assembling and decorating the food boxes each week to sell.

Pottery

We have an outside professional that comes into the centre to teach our service users how to use clay. They create a variety of items which will then be painted the following week.

Accounting

Our service users are heavily involved with the accounting of the enterprise. This helps them gain more of an understanding of the value of money and its purpose, including pricing, budgets, profits & losses. Whatever our service users have created, baked or grown in our designated enterprise work-shops is up for sale. Click the link below to take you to our Facebook selling page.

All profits made from our enterprise work-shops go towards an end of month educational outing.

Educational Rewards & Outings

At the beginning of each month our service users will make a group decision on which educational reward they would like to work towards. If they have hit their specific goals and targets they are then treated to the chosen educational outing at the end of each month. We feel by using a reward and recognition approach it enables our service users to hit their specific individual targets more effectively.

When we organise the group outings, our service users will also help with every step along the way. This could include; finding the best route, whether we would have to use public transport, booking tickets, shopping for specific items that we may need, shopping for their lunch and making their packed lunch.
