Educare Lifeskills Centre
Providing work and life skills training for people of all ages with physical and learning disabilities
Our ServicesWho are we?
We also place the utmost importance on visiting different establishments outside of the centre to help build our service users confidence when they’re out in the community. We have been providing care for over a decade and we strongly believe that building our service users confidence in themselves and their abilities is crucial to achieving success. We are committed to providing a safe, professional and respectful environment where you can be certain of excellence in teaching, training and care, which supports both physical and mental well-being.
Achieving tailor-made goals!
We recognise that everybody is different, therefore we will always adapt our service to suit each individuals needs. We will set individual realistic goals that will build our service users abilities, confidence and create a sense of achievement and purpose. We want you to tell us what you want from your experience and we will support you to achieve your goals.
Animal Care
For those service users that love furry friends ! Living at Educare Lifeskills Centre at the moment currently are two rabbits, two guinea pigs, a hamster and a tortoise. As well as caring for our beloved pets, we also like to take care of the wildlife around us including, lots of squirrels, birds and hedgehogs ! We aim to be as self sufficient as possible, therefore our service users help to grow there own fruit and vegetables to supplement our pets needs, as well as making sure our garden and pets homes are well taken care of.
Let’s get Active!
We believe being fit and healthy is great for our mental health, therefore we encourage all our service users to join in with our daily group exercise & yoga classes each and every morning. We attend a ‘sports for confidence’ class, run by occupational therapists, every week where our service users get to learn and gain new skills in a new sport, as well as getting to interact with new people and making new friends. We also attend gym and swimming classes once a week with a personal trainer that specialises in physical disability training for those that would like to attend. Each activity is adapted to our service users individual abilities.
Reward and recognition!
We feel by using a reward and recognition approach, it creates a confidence within our service users that specific targets and goals will be met. Our service users will be recognised for their efforts by choosing as a group, which educational reward they would like to work towards at the beginning of each month. Rewards will include group educational outings once a month, enabling our service users to access the wider community to develop their knowledge and individual social networks. Also, a ‘star of the week’ will be awarded each week, where a specific service user or users will be recognised for their efforts and commitment with a Educare Centre certificate and small treat.
We feel that Educare Lifeskills Centre can provide something for everyone, no matter the level of ability.
